Default Indiana fur down

After getting off work early last Thursday, I jumped at the chance to get out on my first day hunt. Temp was 11 degrees, wind was about 5 to 10 out of the north west. I was set up along a open ditch where the farmer had seen several coyotes traveling behind his house. I was sitting along a fence row, wind in my face with my fusion out in front and to my right about 30 yards pointed down the open ditch. I started out with rabbit duet and about a 2 minuets into the call, this nice female jumped out of the open ditch and was about 60 yards in front of me. She was focused on the foxjack decoy and I let the Olympic Arms UMAR 22-250 eat!

Thanks! I am from the Marion area. This was my first time out this season on a day hunt. I have been night hunting pretty much all season since I got set up with my new ATN night vision scope. I have had had great luck at night around here using eastern cottontail. I have taken 3 coyotes and one fox and even called in a gray fox but chose to let him go as this was the first gray i have seen since I started coyote hunting 6 years ago. Im sure with this cold snap we have had you will have some luck!

Cool you seen a grey fox. Although I'm pretty new to calling I trapped for several years and have hunted my whole life and never seen one. Good luck!

Checking in from porter county up by the lake. I have the shockwave charged up and ready to go. I’m headed out in the morning for the first time and Can’t wait, I’m excited. Good luck to you guys.

Good luck on your first trip out! Hope you can put some fur down! I have good luck this season with eastern cottontail and rabbit duet. As always, share those pictures if you have any luck.

Nice job on the coyote! It’s nice to see some other Hoosier natives to bounce ideas off of! I’m in the southwest portion of the state. Good luck!

Nicely done. It's nice when you have to sit there for an hour in cold temps to see if anything is around.
