Dave Sink out of Lexington NC smithed part of it and I did the rest. Its a Lilja #1 stainless finished at 22". It is very, very close to the same contour as the original Kimber Montana barrel which was a 204.

That's my ideal best bolt gun for fur hunting. I Googled Kimber 17 Remington thinking maybe back in the day they made one and came up with a couple pics of your 17 's a 788 Remington and the Montana. Very nice guns.

Don't ya just love the Internet. As you can imagine, I'm a 17 Rem. nut. I have been since 1971 when I bought my first one.

You and I have the same belief in that the Kimber Montana is our idea of the best bolt gun for fur/predator hunting.

Very nice Swampbuck. You've stumped me on the WCD bullet, who makes it? the good ol' go to load of 24.0gr. of IMR4320. That load has been around a long time. My Kimber loves 24.6gr. of 4320 behind a 25gr. Nagel. Shoots almost to the exact point of impact as my 8208 load.

I couldn't tell in the photo, but is that a Weaver scope you have mounted? Love the call. I can't remember when I used one of those last, but I'll bet it works just as well today as they did back in the day.

My memory is slipping, I should have known what WCD stood for. The regular hp's or were they the Golds?

Its amazing what those tiny little 17 calibers will do. I still remember the first Red Fox I shot with a new Rem. 700 in 17 Rem. back in 71, boy was I impressed. DRT like your Coyote and no exit. The perfect fur caliber.

Have you run your load through a Chronograph? Just curious what velocity your getting with that load and a 26" barrel.

The 8208 load I'm running is just a shade over 4000fps in my 22" barrel.

I think you will really like 8208.

I see you live around Marquette. About 20yrs. ago I lived around McMillan, close to Curtis.
