You can hire Native American guides here to guide you on some of the reservations. Even if elk hunting if you carry anything bigger than a .243 Win. they will laugh at you. They always advise to shoot at the base of the skull so you don't ruin meat or hide.

I agree with your friends 100%, but others I've talked to think a 243 is to small for Southern Whitetail Deer.

Heck, they aren't much bigger than my dog.

Hunting skills, patience, and shot placement are the requirments. Obviously your friends are well aware of them as I know you are Weasel.
Unfortunately the teaching now is to blow through both shoulders, slap each other on the back, a couple of high fives, and call it a good hunt.
