Strange NY Season! Culminated this morning
I have had a strange NY turkey season. I heard zero gobbles during the first week. Then, I tried a new farm and played cat and mouse with a nice longbeard (sadly, so did a few other hunters and the bird was pressured off the property).
Last night, I asked a landowner where I coyote hunt and he granted me permission. I went in blind and heard one gobble from the roost. I relocated to the prettiest woods I have ever been in. I used a tandem of mouth calls and slate calls to illicit gobbles from the Tom. Although I heard no hen talk, a hen came racing to my calls, bringing the Tom in tow. Strutting and gobbling as he came! I took the shot and the bird folded. 24 straight days culminated nicely!
