I just got back from my two week Snow Goose hunting trip to Missouri.
I hunted for 8 days. The guys I hunted with we got a total of 150 geese. We hunted in two different spreads of decoys. The one group of guys I didn't hunt with got over 60 geese one day and over 90 geese the next day. It was very impressive to see how all the movement from the wind sock decoys, Clone decoys, flyer decoys and 24 bird rotating machines worked. We had 2,000 to 3,000 Snow Goose and Blue Goose wind sock decoys out. We only had to move one decoy spread while I was there. We had to move the rotary machines , flyer decoys and our blinds every day because of the wind direction changes. We had a good stiff wind 7 out of the 8 days I hunted. ![]() Look at how many Eagle Head Blue Geese are in the above picture. ![]() One day we killed 22 geese and 9 of them were really good looking Blue Geese. ![]() ![]() All the corn fields on rolling hills and ridges were a very pretty sight. It was surprising for me to see some flocks of migrating geese locked up an start dropping down to our spread of decoys from well over 1,000 yards up. Having two different electronic calling systems also worked great. I used my Foxpro Shockwave with two SP-60 speakers and played the Foxpro Snow Goose Hail call while the other electronic call was playing a Snow Goose flock sound. ![]() ![]() A cool looking Ross Goose. ![]() One of the guys killed a Snow goose with a band on it. This goose was banded when it was one year old in Texas in February of 2006. It was killed in North West Missouri in March of 2020. ![]() I ended up driving 3,900 miles on this trip. I got to see some beautiful country.
