Default Lite pimer strikes on a dpms ar

Just got a dpms sweet 16, question is, when a round is chambered by letting the bolt slam shut, then ejecting that round (with out firing) it leaves a lite firing pin dent in the primer, is this normal? seems like that could be dangerous. anyone else notice this? thanks.

It's normal. Your rifle has a floating firing pin.

If you reload for it make sure you dont use primers with a soft cup. There is the potential of a slam fire if you do. I have only heard of it happening a couple times. I use Remington 7 1/2 primers in mine.

I use CCI 400 primers, they also have a thicker cup. Never had a slam fire after around 2000 rounds. I noticed the same small indent on the primer as you did. Just go with the primers mentioned, and you should have no problems. Just make sure you seat them deep enough.
