Default Shotgun loads

Just curious what everyone prefers for coyote loads. Iíve been using 3 inch nitro turkey #4s and Winchester varmint x BB. But havenít got a coyote close enough to test them out.

I prefer the Varmint x for two reasons.
These shells pattern very well for me, and they are a bit larger than turkey loads..
I have tried Dead Coyote loads, but got poor patterns in each of my guns.
A nice pattern @ 40 yards is very important.
Hope this helps.

I got good patterns from both out to 50 with a long beard choke .650, but should I use a more open choke for the bigger shot?

Not necessarily.
As long as the Varmint-X BBs are not flattening out and you got the pattern size you want, then you are good to go. If you see small "slits" in the paper target, instead of small holes, then your Choke size may be a bit too tight. I use a .650 Choke as well, and get a nice pattern without any flattening of the Varmint-X. Other shotguns I use require a slightly more open (.665 and ,670) chokes to prevent flattening of the pellets.
