Default 243 on Hogs ?

Anyone that hunts hogs and uses a 243 , I was wondering what kind of Shell/Bullet would you use ?

I have 58gn Vmax for coyotes and I also have some 85 gn soft points. Never hunted hogs and just wondered if I should take different ammo...
Fury-Shockwave / SP-55 horn
Mojo Critter
Remington 788, 243, Harris extended S25C
Ruger Percision Rifle 243 Harris extended S25C
Vortex 4x12x50 crossfire on each setup
Hornady V-Max 58gr

Well I can say with some what certainty That if you use the 85gr BTHP by federal you will not be disappointed. Will definitely penetrate and then explode inside. I put down hogs, deer, chucks, coyotes.

I never used one on hogs but a .243 is a very versatile caliber. If you hand load even better.

I killed over 1,000 hogs with a .243 before going to an AR15. In the beginning I used Remington core Lokt. then I switched to Hornady 100gr., And Hornady 53gr. V-max I've had no issues with any of them.

When you say "Hogs" are you refering to the swine or ground type? Its Spring so all I can think of when I hear "Hogs" is the G'Hog/ Ground Grizzly/Pasture Poodle/Whistle Pig/Land Beaver/etc...

I have a 243 however it does not handle light bullets too well. Not a good thing for G'Hogs. I wouldn't hesitate to use it on Boar/Feral pigs with heavier constructed bullets.
