Hemiram23 winchester 45 gr varmint work well. If you hand load give 52gr calhoon a try furtaker i like the vlc also .to bad barns quit makeing them--they work real good in my 225 win-i have 700 50gr left and 250 of the 4o's----if you run out try 52gr calhoon you might like them.

Default Factory 22-250 loads

Like Weasel said, try several brands and weights. Every rifle is different. My personal preference is Hornady V-Max's, either 40 or 50-grains, whatever shoots best for you.

I don't think you will find any "shells" to fit your firearm (Shells are for shotguns, Rifles/Pistols use Cartridges’).

That being said, a good "off the shelf" cartridge is the Federal Premium "Vital Shock" 55gr Sierra BlitzKing.

I wish Federal Premium would offer the 22-250 with a Nosler Balistic Tip like they do in the 223 and 243 cals.

I too have found Vmax pretty hard on pelts if you save them. They often splash at higher velocities. They do have a nice BC and hit hard. A more fur friendly bullet is the Hornady 52 or 53 gr hollow point if you can hand load. Varget is an extremely good choice in powders for the 250.

I have been shooting Nosler 50gr Ballistic Silvertips with 32.5grs 3031. I have some loaded up now with 38grs of BL-C(2), really really accurate out of my Savage but haven't killed a coyote yet to see the damage. My first 4 shot group measured 8mm, so about 3/8's of an inch I think. Only drops about 2 1/2" at 300 too.
