After a long day on Thursday calling a area that I haven't called for several years that produced one coyote and it came in like a bullet and it left like a rocket which is another way of saying I didn't touch it.
Friday I only had time for a couple stands which produced one coyote which was a young female.

Today started bad when the electric gate wouldn't open so I got a late start. The first stand produced a young male . I was having strong winds from the get go. As I was setting up the second stand of the morning a gust of wind blew my shotgun over and filled the thing up with rocks and dirt. As I was clearing the action so I could inspect it, a rock managed to get back into the action until I couldn't move anything. Without a drift punch to push out the pins I was shut down. After a long drive back home because I left the house with just one firearm because I was planning on hunting just till noon. I am starting to feel snake-bit as I can't seem to get thing going smoothly. Maybe it's just been a long season.

I had two hard chargers that I could see coming in from a long ways out and I let them charge right in without them checking up once. I had set the stand up for a rifle and I was hoping anything that would come in would curl into the wind and they both did just that at a full run. The problem than became they wouldn't stop at anything I yelled, so I shot the last one in line ( male ) first on the run and than got the female running away as she was trying to get out of Dodge! A true double on the run with my rifle and I felt like I was forty again. Than realty set in as I missed the next two singles that I called in with the rifle. I guess that puts me in Jim's camp and I wonder if we could talk Robb into giving us some shooting lessons in the off season.
