He has the worst blockage side scheduled for Oct. 13, and will do the other side when the first procedure is totally healed.

Doctor performed an endarterectomy on Nedra's left carotid artery, and cleaned out the plaque, all done yesterday. No problems, and she is back home. She goes back to him in two weeks, and I assume she will find out then when they will do the other side.
Thanks to all for your good thoughts and prayers.

Took Nedra to the specialist yesterday. He has ordered up a MRI since it has been over 6 months since the previous one. Later, he will schedule her for outpatient surgery at the hospital, where they make two small incisions, and fuse two small rods in the affected area. It takes up to 9 months to fully heal, but he feels like this will enable her to walk again without the walker. This is the first time since her ordeal started, well over a year ago, when I have some confidence that she is going to get better.

Thanks to all for the good thoughts and prayers for Nedra. She had the arthroscopic spinal fusion procedure this past Friday, and the doctor says it was a perfect outcome. I don't mind admitting that I cried when I saw her stand upright without pain for the first time in over a year.
Going to be a lot of work involved in the total recovery, but I have faith in God and Nedra that she will win.

Over a month has passed, and Nedra continues slow but steady improvement. She goes back to the surgeon on Sept. 13 for evaluation. Only thing needed, according to him, is the physical therapy connected to walking, starting with the walker, then the cane, and finally on her own.
On Wednesday, July 14, I had to go to the ER at Central Baptist Hospital, about 3:30 p.m., was seen by doctor at about 7:00 and he sent me up for a cat scan. Surgeon came in about 8:00 and advised that I had acute appendicitis, and he scheduled me for surgery for that night at 9:30. They took it out prior to any rupturing, and sent me home on Friday afternoon about 4:30. Going through normal recuperation now, improving every day, but it will be two weeks or more before I can do anything like cut the grass, use the weedeater, etc. Trying to rest and be sensible, but hard to do when I need to take care of Nedra. Good thoughts and prayers, and thanks to the Good Lord will be appreciated.

Good thoughts, prayers and thanks to the Good Lord coming from here.
Help may be available in your area. I know many churches have volunteers that will do service projects. I had over 30 people show up and clean up my yard ( I have an acre) without me even asking. Since my wife passed away women show up at my door with food and goodies fairly regularly. I'm not a member of their church (LDS). They don't hound me to join and offer help all the time. |
