Default Thermal hunting?

Please share your thoughts concerning thermal hunting. Personally, it would not be my cup of tea, but I don't condemn others that use it. I don't like using snares either if that gives you any thoughts. I like calling coyotes in, during daylight hours, and making DRT shots.

I've never used thermal. When I hunt at night I use lights. That said, lights cannot be used in much of Utah, but thermal is legal. Go figure, huh? I would use thermal if I could afford it. My overall preference is the same as yours, Al. Daytime calling is my overall favorite.

Hunting with an ecaller, and red, amber, or white lights is a big advantage, in my opinion, You'll see a lot more coyotes that way than you will in daytime, as they are out stirring more during those hours. I wouldn't use the thermal if they gave it to me.

I’m old school too, there’s been tons of coyotes killed for years with lights, I think it’s more or less relying on technology to make you successful instead of beating coyotes at their own game. Just my opinion

Still calling them in when using thermal.
Thermal is some regards is safer at night, you can see a lot more than with lights or NV that being said positive i.d. is better when properly using lights or nv, unless you are more familiar with how various animals move and what they look like in thermal.
