does anyone use a 22 mag? looking to see how a scoped 22 mag rifle would do for hide hunting coon fox bobcats and coyotes inside about 75 yards

I don't have any "practical" knowledge since I've never personally done it. That said 22 RF has been used plenty on coons and fox. Even on coyotes with varying success. I'm willing to bet the 22 Mag would be more than adequate for the game and scenarios you have mentioned. In fact I have often thought of buying a 22 Mag and trying it myself.

I'm by no means an expert on the subject and can only speak to my experiences but I use a Marlin .22 mag with a Bushnell 3X9 scope shooting CCI Maxi-Mag 40 grain hollow points. I have shot coons, fox and bobcat with it from 99 ranged yards in and so far (but I'm sure it will happen someday) have not lost anything I have shot. Bullet placement is always key with any caliber. Most have been head or neck shot. Probably the longest trail has been about 30 yards (bobcat shot behind the shoulder). Like I said, this has been my experience with these 3 animals. I wouldn't hesitate to shot a coyote either if I had the chance. This gun and scope combination shoots the CCI's amazingly well for me. I wish I could find some more of these shells.

I use a 22 mag a lot with 30 grain vmax and never had a coyote move an inch with a head shot up to 100 ,just keep in mind that it doesn’t take much to deflect that bullet so be sure you have open shots, same thing for 17 HMR they are both good coyote guns. Up until a few years ago that’s all we could use here for night hunting.

I carry a 22 mag with me alot. Great for coons and Possum. I shoot Federal 30 grain TNT hollow points. As stated shot placement is critical with this cal. I added a Boyds custom stock with thumbhole. It looks great and shoots very well.

We have shot a few coyotes with a 22 mag and even some with a 22 long rifle but like a 17hmr there a little light. For P doge, however, if you can keep them under 200 yards there very good.
