Sunday I was using a Win Mod 70 classic Super Grade in a 25-06 with Swarovski 4X16X50. 75 gr VMax on top of 56.5 gr of IMR 4350. Makes 'em nasty dead!

Hopefully I will soon have another Favorite Coyote Rifle. Just recently ordered a Bergara 26" Stainless-Steel Heavy Contour Encore Barrel in .22-250. Probably won't get to shoot it much till after Deer Season though as my .30-06 Barrel will be on the frame till I get my Deer.

Walking varminter is Kimber Montana .243 with B&L 2.5-10x scope.
PD gun is CZ Varminter with kevlar stock in .223 with Bushnell 4500 Tactical 6-24X. While bird hunting gun is Merkel 96k 12x12 over .243 for coyotes or whatever. Woods calling it is usually Mini-14 .223 with Bushnell Holosight or an 870 12ga with 21" barrel (also my turkey gun). But as they say "beware the man with only one gun because he probably knows how to use it". In other words I'd probably be better off to pick one and stick to it, but then who would help the economy? |

Concur, this is my dedicated coyote rifle/caliber/bullet choice too. The T3 is probably the lightest and most accurate out of the box production rifle I have ever used. I had mine is dipped in Prairie Ghost Snow for winter dogging.
When the dogs are wary, the shots will be long, and the wind is cutting (I try not to call in high winds but sometimes stuff happens) there's only one rifle I get out of the safe, my LH Weatherby Accumark in 257 Wby Mag. Shooting fairly mild handloads (3330 FPS) with 85 grain Ballistic Tips this rifle prints sub-MOA and makes 400 yard coyote kills out here on the prairie as close to routine as that type of shot can be. This is the rifle I prefer to carry in my truck for those chance opportunities when I run across a dog on trips to/from town... Last edited by NDTerminator; 12-17-2009 at 11:58 AM. |
