Default Froze up Shockwave

First time this has happened. After calling about 15 minutes the sound out of the Shockwave became garbled, and then 5 minutes later shut off all together. The temperature was -20 degrees F. Took the unit home and warmed it up, turned it on and all seems good, battery still fully charged. I've used this call in colder temperatures then this and have had no issues.

You definitely have a battery issue. I believe if you switch to Lithium batteries, you will eliminate that problem.

I haven't been able to recreate the issue again. I have 2 sets of battery packs. 1st pack is NiMH purchased with the unit in 2015, and the 2nd pack is Lithium purchased from Fox Pro in 2017. Unfortunately I did not track which pack was in the unit at the time of the issue.

The lithium pack will perform much better in extreme cold. Also, you have to remember to set your ecaller to the battery type you are using.

I did not know that. Checked the ecaller and it was set on Li-Pack, I have been using both sets of battery packs on this setting. The lithium pack I have is 11.1 V 4400m Ah LI_ION rechargeable battery. Do I set the ecaller to Li-Packs or Li-Cells?

If the instructions in your manual are not clear, I'd call the techs at Foxpro.

FYI Contacted Fox Pro and for my lithium pack I should set my e-caller to Li-Pack. Thanks again Al.

Thanks for sharing what you learned with other forum members. That is the correct way to handle problems.
