I hunt crows here in Maine on a large dairy farm. Our best luck is when we build a snow wall. We build it in a circle but instead of closing the circle, we overlap the walls with enough room left to walk in, but you can't see into it. (I hope that made sense.)
This is me shooting a high flier with my old LeFever 12 gauge side by side. Every time they fell head first and stuck in the snow, my buddy would call out "Lawn Dart!" I guess you had to be there to appreciate the humor..... I am a true believer in #5 shot. I load them myself and it kills them easily. These are just low-brass, 2 3/4", 1 1/8 ounce of shot. We've had a few days with over 100 kills in a few hours. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvU1T49HmgI |
