As a general rule guys shoot what they feel confident in shooting in regard to shot size. If I had to pick one shot size for crows it would be a trap load ( 3 dram not 2 3/4 dram ) in number 8 shot. Most of my shooting ( about 80% ) is within 40 yards but the # 8's will kill them pretty well out to 50 yards if need be.

I would think that having several #8's hitting a crow, as compared to lets say one #6, is more effective at killing them. Actually, one shot of either size will kill a crow. I would rather have four #8's hit a crow than one #6, as an example. You are just increasing your chances of bringing the crow down.
Maybe Bob can weigh in on this comparison?

Will a skeet choke work while crow hunting? I've never done the crow hunting before.

It will work, but I wouldn't want it. Imp. cylinder to modified would be my choice, leaning toward modified. If I was doing a lot of long range shooting, I'd prefer full choke.
