Default St. Patrick's Day Hard Charger!

Realizing that the season is winding down, I awoke at six AM and ventured to a local spot for a morning hunt. My late season sequence has been awesome, so I let it rip. Also ripping was the wind! I had to hide on the leeward side of a hill to escape the freezing breeze. The initial prey sounds did not produce. I was fearful that any predator could not hear them with the wind. Suddenly, there was a lull in the wind and I played subordinate female through the shockwave.

Instantly, I saw a coyote run out from the woods - but it was hundreds of yards away in the next field over. I switched to Ranting Red Bird and the coyote appeared in "my" field. It was trotting quickly and moving parallel to me and the Shockwave/FoxJack combo. The coyote turned and made a mad sprint toward the decoy! I've never seen a hard charger move so quickly!

It closed the distance from 300 to 50 yards in no time. I "barked" to stop it, but it kept on charging! While shaking from adrenaline, I anchored the reticule and took the shot. "Whump" and down it went - never even flinching. I looked up and there was a second coyote 50 yards to my right, but it turned quickly and vacated the scene.

Luck of the Irish (I'm 50%) to me on this one! Shaking like crazy and my trusty Rem 700 didn't let me down!
