Default Some raccoon pictures from this season!

Well me and my sister got hooked on calling these raccoons about 2 years ago, We started out only calling them during the daytime hours and did pretty good but with more responsibility at my job I don't take off as much during the week as I used to so I tried some night time coon hunting this year and found its very productive as well and with a few good lights its allot of fun

I think we got between 35-40 of them this season and most of them were taken after dark, all on public lands here in Ohio. I know that's not a crazy big number but I sure had allot of fun chasing these little rascals this season with my sister!

That's awesome! Can you talk about how you typically set up and about what sound sequences you are using? Thanks and good job.

Thanks guys! We had allot of fun hunting and trying to figure out the most effective way to hunt them at night!

As far as setups and sound sequences go usually when you think of a coon after dark you think there all out and about roaming around but we found that setting up on a known denning tree is still the most effective way to hunt them, even after dark! But we also had some luck just standing out in a open field about 80
Yards from the tree line and play your sequences... We had a few coon come busting out across the field and the rest would climb a tree and try to watch from a distance!
I will usually start out with a Bird distress for a minute or so then go right into a coon pup distress for about a minute and a half to two minutes then jump to young coon distress for about the same amount of time and if there's no eyes yet I will play raccoon fight for close to 2 minutes ....

It seems when you set up close to dens and play coon fight first you won't get the young coons and some of the females to come out for a peek as often so that's why I like to play my coon distress sounds first.. Real easy, fast and if there's no takers move to the next field or tree that looks promising!
When your setting up in a field without knowing where they are denning we like to be in crop fields or looking at the edge of a swamp or creek , ect.

Not hard to figure out and I'm definitely not a "pro" at it .. Just get out and try it yourself!
Happy hunting
