Default Monkey Blown Off

My Son has had a tough season this year. Because of Basketball he didn't hunt as much as he'd liked to have. When we did go out I had fox called in straight to him...he's a good shooter but this year he grew a monkey on his back with several misses. Tonight MD Archer and I took him to a couple PA farms...the wind was brutal tonight. First stand We had three foxes.....one sniffed us out quickly and eyes vanished.....another came in hard, but cautious and only provided a long poke...and a miss. Second stand I caught a fox coming form the right a ways off, but at the same time heard Archer patting my kids shoulder whispering "right here"....one was coming straight in from the left ….I muted the call to stop it and whispered "Take it"...…."click"....uh oh.....he kept calm, racked the bolt slowly...."click".....really?...this time he pressed the mag upwards, racked the bolt again....."boom whump!".....the brutal gust of wind knocked that monkey off!

That perked him up...…..getting into a slump sucks....but he handled it well he's back to killing!

Bog Pod with 4" WSR saddle...it's "ok" for standing. We typically sit in dove chairs unless there is a lot of tall brush. Bog Pod has a newer HD version out now. He likes the tripod even when sitting.....I prefer the Bog Pod bipods w/adapter when sitting.

It was for sure Sonny....My heart sank last night when he missed the first fox. This stand had several SNAFUS. The mag was not inserted fully...so he thought he had a round chambered...twice....when he finally shot it went down...as we celebrated it tried to get up and he put another one in it just to make sure it was anchored. Not huge but a tad bigger than "typical". Once I got a look at it in daylight it had a good size head and the tail was in really good shape....so off to the Taxidermy it went this morning. Just a basic shoulder mount on walnut plaque w/tail hanging down. Will look good over his open mouth mount from last year.

Thanks SB....yep it's a male. I'd say slightly bigger than average...I should have had it weighed this morning at taxidermist but got shop talking and forgot...lol....my taxidermist is a great guy, he can talk!...I'd say around 12 lbs.

Have a great weekend yourself Sir!
