Default First Snow and Some Coon

Woke up this morning to the first snow on the ground for the winter. Decided to go out and do some calling. The weather was in the mid 20s and a bit windy so I had to do some coaxing to get the ones that came out....all the way out. The first committed one really didn't start off that way. He kept peeking his head out of the hole at the coon fight sound but would not come out. After several minutes of him peeking and ducking, he finally came all the way out of the hole to the Coon Distress 2 sound.

I put in several stands after that harvest. Got some lookers, some no shows, and at one tree, two young coon wanted nothing to do with the coon fight sound. As soon as I turned on the call, the two coon I spotted sleeping in the tree climbed further up and into their warm and protected den. LOL. Smart...

I then came across a huge old Oak Tree. All the signs were there...several holes and break offs, feces at the base, and bark all clawed up. I played a food tune...Screamin' Rabbit and Raccoon. The large one in the photo came screaming down the tree and I almost couldn't get a shot off. He stopped for a brief moment and that was all I needed. A couple of minutes later, the smaller one emerged from a den hole and started climbing higher. He stopped on a limb for a better look and I gave him a 45gr pill to hold on to. Not a bad day for a cold and windy day.
