Boyd, I'm impressed. That's a long way. There are others that have shot that kind of range and killed coyotes. I don't think I would pull a shot that far myself. I call mainly at night so most of my shots are under 200yds, I would say foxes range 20yds to 150yds and coyotes usually between 120yds to 180yds. My farthest was this year, a female coyote at 235yds. I reload 25gr HP, I never used 25 gr. V-max. I have used the 20 gr. on one coyote that I hit at 120yds. The round hit 1/2inch to left of center chest and traveled 17 inches thru, blowing a 1 1/2 inch hole out the opposite side of the chest after breaking the last two ribs.

But seriously, the 17 Hornet is not a coyote caliber, you will end up loosing more then you kill. But I guess all the other calibers that coyotes been shot with and lost aren't either LOL

Congrats you have made it into the super Ninja Sniper club LOL.

Please don't count the Hornet 17 out for coyotes.
The boy ( 42) usually uses his for coyotes , Factory shells.
OUT STANDING !
Most all fall in there tracks seldom needs a second shot.
300 yards is normally the longest he shoots.
WIND is a bigger problem then the bullet killing them...

PS we average neer 100 coyotes in a fur season, we shoot a LOT
