Currently looking for an AR that I can hunt with and not have to wear ear muffs. The AR's that I've shot literally kill my ears without muffs. Any sugestions?

Hello, my brother and I both have and use remington R25 .234 and love the guns! They are very accurate and they are quiet compared to my 220 swift.

I always wear muffs at the range, which you should, but out calling I never have a problem with the muzzle noise. I shot at a coyote last Sunday and I did not have the usual ringing in the ear afterwards. I shoot a Colt 6940 and really love the accuracy it delivers. I am shooting a Elite 4x12x40 scope on top of it.

What inch barrel are yall shooting? I was looking at the Rock River Predator. I shoot a Rem 700 in 223 when i am calling coyotes but thought I would jump on the AR band wagon just wanted to have a little hearing when Im done at the end of the day.

I think noise and recoil go hand-in-hand. When you are at the range you notice both, but when you're drawing down on a coyote you don't.

Look for one with atleast a 20" barrel and put a Levang comp on it. It will be a lot quiter than a 16" AR, but I would still wear some kind of hearing protection, even if it's something like the Surefire EP4's.

I agree with dway. I don't shoot an AR, but some friends do. The 16-18" barrels kill my ears. 20" and longer are definately easier on the ears.

Ditto the above, i was gonna say go with a 24" barrel if you have the room to manuver it. It makes the gun alot longer but it is noticeably quieter, especially if you put a compensator on it.

Put a supressor on it. Some states allow them (Arizona doesn't). However, you will have to pay the $200.00 to the ATF for the stamp.
