Default Vole Squeaks

I have had very good luck using Vole Squeaks as a coaxing sound at about half volume. When the coyotes hang up way out there I switch to Vole Squeaks and most of the time the coyotes can't stand it and come on in to the caller. I have Vole Squeaks on volume 20 as one of my preset sounds.

Bob,

To be honest, I haven't tried that sound very much. I will have to use it more. For a rodent sound, I have used rodent distress, flying squirrel, red squirrel, and prairie dog distress. Have you compared it to any of our other rodent sounds? I know it's hard to try other sounds when you have one working for you, isn't it?

Mike, I have had good luck with Adult Rat and Prairie Dog Distress. I use Adult Rat and Prairie Dog Distress on full Volume 40, most of the time. I use Vole Squeaks on volume 20 to bring in the coyotes that have stopped or held up.

I was hunting last Saturday night and once I got setup coyotes started yipping about 200yds away so I turned on the Vole squeaks and 4 coyotes showed up in about 30seconds. It works! I was calling for a good friends 12yr old and he got his first coyote as well as a exciting hunt.

We've used vole squeaks before and I prefer a volume level 12 when using it. We converted a female into a skin after 2HR and 15MIN messing with her using everything in the book. The ONLY thing that got her atterntion was the low volume vole squeaks. She sat/stood/laid down on a hill 400 yards away while we pecked at her ego with the sounds. Wife took her at 180 yards when she commited, circled, and came in behind us. KUDO's for vole squeaks. Its worked fairly often after before/after that situation as a great closer.

On 4 or 5 occasions after calling for 10 to 15 minutes, I have switched to Vole Squeaks at half volume and had coyotes come in that I hadn't seen before switching to Vole Squeaks.

last stand of the night, sat down in a field waited about 5 min, turned on the scope light then turned on vole squeaks at a 18-20ish level and WOW did that fox just explode the length of the field and jumped when he realized he wasn't attacking dinner!

i just wish they were in season so i could've had something to show for my first night out with the Scorpion, had one coyote bark/yip at us in our first stand (wind not in our favor) and then that fox and another fox in the lst stand of the night

That's something to try next season. Gee, I hate to wish summer away!
