Default A Productive Evening

The wind finally calmed down last night, and I got out a few hours after dark to do some coon calling. I have access to a large stretch of woods along a running creek that holds quite a bit of coon. It's quite a walk to get there, and I was hunting alone...so I knew that I was only going to be able to carry a few coon out. Arriving at the woods, I turned on my caller, shouldered it, and began my walk along the edge scanning the trees. In about 30-40 minutes, I had 4 coon down and more eyes looking at me, LOL. I stuffed three large coon in my backpack and hand held the 4th one out of the area back to the jeep. I got a nice work out with that, LOL. I then drove to an open pasture with three big trees next to each other in it. Set up the caller and started off with woodpecker distress. Not long after a coon came running down one of the big trees and stood straight up at the base of it looking into my light. His last mistake. Stuffed him in the backpack and made my way back. Made as couple more stand with no takers. The 22 mag got a work out and I ended up with 5 coon. Not a bad night....
