anybody had any luck calling / decoying snow geese? i am going to Arkansas for the conservation hunt the second weekend in February. Any suggestions on which calls to use / decoying? Went last year, runnin and gunnin. Killed 180 in 2 days with 8 guys. We are going to run and gun some this year but we are wanting to use layouts and decoy some.

I run a homemade e-caller with 4 speakers over 450 full body Dakotas with 2 dozen flappers. I have been spitballing the new FoxPro snow crow with 4 speakers, we might get crazy and run 2 callers this spring.

I hunt them on the water...only put out about 300 decoys and one 250 watt caller...we had more success on the water..snows set in easier on the water..ussally late mornings are the best times in the east....

Do your homework. Scouting will kill more geese than anything, you have to set up where they want to be. Which can be difficult since they want to hop and move all over while feeding. I have also found that using realistic full body decoys will help, they tend to want to work from straight above you to the center or back of the spread as well. Setup your spread to mimic the natural feeding movements they use, motion on the upwind side of the spread and that is where you should be laying as well. Good luck.

Pack your decoys tight around your layout blinds and space them out downwind of you, snows will bunch up when they find food in a field and are aggressive feeders.
