I've got a 16" LW DPMS, plus other ARs. Try some Black Hills blue box 52 gr HP or 55 gr SP. They shoot well in all of my 223s. As far as optics, I use the Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40 on a couple of my rifles. Excellent glass, RainGuard coating and a lifetime warranty. They can be purchased for under $250. MI VHNTR

One of the nice things that can be said of the 223 cartridge is, they will shoot well with just about anything you put in it. Just remember to sight it in with the ammo you intend to use hunting.
