Default Shotgun at night tatics

When hunting at night I understand you hunt with the call right by you so they are looking in your lights direction, do they come closer at night before trying to wind you, are they not concerned with the wind, do I need to get far enough away from a vehicle or road to get them when they circle around.(we cant hunt from a vehicle or the road here) I guess my question would be how do I get them into shotgun range at night. Are they less likely to hang up inside the woods before coming into a powerline clearing or out in a stubble field. any tips or ideas welcome, Thanks

There are no hard and fast rules. Sometimes they circle downwind and sometimes they run straight in just like day hunting. In most cases animals will be more likely to enter open areas (powerlines, etc.) at night than they will during the day. The vehicle shouldn't matter as long as you keep the halo of the light on the animal.
As far as getting them within shotgun range........keep coaxing them and don't shoot if they are too far out. Better to let them go and try them at a later date than to shoot too soon.

When hunting alone aim the speaker down wind and you walk 100 yards down wind and set up 30 yards to the appropriate side of the main sound beam..See predators alwasy get in line with the loudest sound wave and they come into the wind.. Use your red lights as your shield.. They will get in direct line with the loudest part of the sound and approach it into the wind... When they come within shotgun range you intercept. Make sure you place a piece of auto reflective tape on your caller should it malfunction so you can find it..
This tactic will always insure that your within shotgun range.

If someone is mouth calling for you.. Set up the same 100 yards down wind of the sound source but never get in direct line with it or you will be busted..

Small 1 acre farm areas...Place the caller 25 yards in front of you and post behind the caller but 30 yards to the appropriate side.

Appropriate side is determind by the terrain on your left or your right... Don't post on the left hand side if their is a corn field there. Post on your right hand side since the predator will either come out of the corn or along side the corn.
You will just have to learn how to read cover..The cover that is beyond the main beam of the speaker.

Ok, here ya go...
1. Load shotgun with as many shells possible.
2. Call in critter as close as possible.
3. Unload shotgun on critter until he is dead or your out of shells.
If this doesnt work, take up golf... hahaha...
